MY MISSION

To preserve and strengthen the human-dog bond

We live in an era where much scientific effort is being made into understanding more about how dogs think, learn, and relate to us. Modern scientific thinking is that today’s dogs and humans evolved together. Our unique relationship with them is unlike any other in the animal kingdom.

Although there’s plenty we haven’t figured out about our best friends, we do know that behavior problems often arise as a result of a combination of factors. We must look at the dog holistically, which means considering their physical, social, and environmental needs when building a behavior modification plan. Lastly – and perhaps most importantly – we must work to bridge the communications gap between our two species.

I created Get Dog S.M.A.R.T as a framework to help dog owners understand what their dogs need and how to give it to them. So dogs can get back to the business of being our best friends.

Ann King, Certified Canine Behavior Consultant, is a life-long dog owner and has worked with dogs in rescues and shelters for more than 30 years. Ann, formerly a corporate communications and marketing professional, left her 'real job' to pursue her passion of all things dog and, along with receiving her training certification from Animal Behavior College in 2006, most recently received a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine certification from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), a designation held by less than 250 professionals worldwide.

In addition to working with clients, Ann volunteers her services to shelters and rescues and created Rescue S.M.A.R.T. as a resource for dog rescue organizations, dog fosters, and new dog adopters to help give dogs the best chance possible at finding and staying in their forever homes.
